Filming - the fun part.

We really wanted to carry on the new look and feel of our pilot show so we invested in the gear we needed. And we had the perfect opportunity to get some incredible footage when we headed for the Wanganella Banks on one of the most incredible sport fishing boats in the world - the Ultimate Lady. We wanted to make a show that took viewers from the armchair and put them in the game chair. Literally hundreds of marlin performed and we had a filming platform that allowed us to film the action from multiple angles using a combination of fixed, roving and underwater cameras. The footage filmed is world class and will leave even the most experienced game fisherman gob-smaked.

We set out to capture all the action, not just a screaming reel, a few jumps then the fight. To do marlin fishing justice we filmed marlin chasing and eating lures, live baits, and deadbaits. We teased marlin to the boat and filmed the chaos as up to eight marlin fought over the baits we threw out, try and say ‘game fishing is boring', once you've seen this action!

The next shoot was at the other end of the fishing spectrum, fishing from a kayak. But this was no ordinary kayak - equipped with fish finder, chart plotter, VHF radio four rod holders and stacks of other features this was a pocket battleship. Our Kayak fishing guru took us on an adventure that saw us catch a range of species including some very respectable snapper up to 18 lb. The next expedition was a look at the new saltwater fly fishing scene, and once again we were blessed with perfect weather and lots of big fish of all descriptions from trevally to tuna. In the immediate future we are looking at filming some land based action in areas never before accessed by helicopter, then we're off to Tonga to take a look at some of the best fishing available on the planet.
