If you are serious about tackling the spectacular striped marlin, then New Zealand is the place. New Zealand has the biggest striped marlin in the world, with fish averaging around 100kg (220 lb) with regular catches of fish over 150 kg (330 lb) these are no ordinary stripies. In New Zealand you can fish for striped marlin from January through to May from The Bay of Plenty up to the world famous Bay of Islands, with the season at the fishing mecca of the Three Kings Islands extending through to the end of June.
