After years of good service and countless successful fishing adventures on my Stabi-craft 580 HT 'The Stingray II' We decided that we needed a bigger boat to accommodate all the camera equipment, people and gear required when filming the show (plus it's always nice to get a bigger boat) The choice of boat was easy. Stabi-craft boats offer us the stability and sea worthiness we require when fishing and filming in New Zealand conditions. That decided size was the next decision we needed to make - the 659 supercab with an overall length of 6.9 metres was big enough to accommodate our requirements but still easy enough beach launch at some of the more remote locations we intend to fish. The super cab also offered us that extra internal cabin space for stowing gear, sleeping and keeping out of the conditions.
After years of trailer boat fishing and working on Big game fishing vessels I had plenty of ideas for the boats lay out to best utilise the space and make it a practical and comfortable fishing boat. The design team at Stabi-craft worked hard to incorporate the fishing features into the boat and they are now available to anyone who wants to set up a Stabi-craft as a mean fishing machine.
