New series just around the corner..
2:59PM 2nd Apr 09
This week show sees the finale to Matt's battle royale with a West Coast Marlin from his 389 Stabi-Craft. Using nothing but a hand line and a ‘modified' electric fence reel Matt goes toe to fin with a big stripey. How this all goes down at the end will blow you away!

Only four Saturdays to go until the new series!! YEEEHHHAAAA. And speaking of the new series, congratulations to Sue, the lucky winner of our ‘first episode of the new series' competition. Sue correctly stated that the new series starts on ANZAC Day, with the first episode being ‘Alaska Salmon'. Well done Sue, who has won herself a New Zealand Fishing News pack; comprising of a coolie bag, a cap with a light, and a six month New Zealand Fishing News subscription.

Calling all Three Kings Adventurers; Round Two of Ultimate Fishing Adventures sees Kerren Packer (aka Kezza) taking a crew of anglers up to the holy grail that is the Three Kings to target anything and everything that this Mecca has to offer. Fancy having a jig for a Marlin, or targeting the XOS Kingi's and Snapper that inhabit the islands? Do a Broadbill drift or drag some plastic? Well, this is just the kind of place where you can try it all. Dates are May the 9-14th, travelling on The Oracle, departing from the Far North and there are only eight places left. Anyone keen should contact Bill at travel@thefishingshow.co.nz.

‘Plus One' should be up and running now so once you've caught the 5.30pm Saturday slot on TV3 you can also catch the 6.30pm Saturday slot on Freeview...double up and make a night of it.

This weekend also sees the end to daylight savings, so make sure you've updated the clocks so that you don't leave you mate waiting at the ramp for an extra hour or you've missed the boat. Remember that your GPS unit probably has an internal clock as well and having that info right can help with ‘getting back onto the fish' next time. It's also a great excuse for a last hurrah for summer and the weekend's weather is looking relatively good with okayish seas. It's also the first quarter moon, so there should be some good fishing to be had by all.

Till next week
