Tours / Charters - Chatham Island
After heading east from New Zealand for about 800 kilometres, you will come to a very isolated way of life. Chatham Islands, the home of rare and unique fauna and flora, stunning scenery, a fascinating history, and a caring, friendly way of life. Team this with rusted out land cruisers, sea hardened commercial fishermen and pig dogs, and you've got the recipe for a fantastic time to be had by all.
The Chatham's was better than we could have possibly imagined, the locals treated us to fantastic hospitality and we got to step back in time and sample what the fishing, hunting and seafood gathering must have been like for our forefathers 100 years ago. We gathered huge paua from the wharf pylons, caught massive blue cod using only a piece of string tied to a hook, and dozens of crays could been seen while snorkelling just 20 meters from the wharf.
We've fished a lot of places, and our trip to Chatham Island stands out as one of our most memorable experiences. So if you like fishing or hunting, then the Chathams is definitely a place you must visit.
