Blue Marlin
Nothing tears up the ocean like a blue marlin (Makaira Mazara) and these fish normally account for some of the biggest marlin that get captured around the world each year. A fish that traditionally likes deep water they are normally targeted in the deep on large skirted lures.
As well as a known fighter they are also well renowned for diving deep when hooked and unless you can get control over the fish they often dive very deep and die of a heart attack; which normally means hours of winding, or trying to plane the fish up, or cutting your losses. It pays to have a very good skipper at your side when targeting these fish as experience counts for alot.
We've caught blues in some of the South Pacifics most stunning locations like the Tongan island archipelago of Vavau, out from Australia's Gold Coast, or the stunning Vanuatu Island group. We've also hooked up on the big blues that visit New Zealand every summer along the East Coast, from the Bay of Plenty through to Northland, the Three Kings, Norfolk Island and the Wanganella Banks.
